Move It and Lose It
Walk at least 10,000 steps a day. This doesn't mean you have to join a gym to use a treadmill (or buy one), or even schedule a walk. Everyday, we miss countless opportunities to add healthful steps.
Here's a few ideas:
- Instead of vying for the primo-closest parking space at the mall, readjust your thinking and park as far away as possible and walk. Make sure to take a moment and laugh at the people still waiting for the perfect parking space as you walk in the store.
- Don't use the Drive-Thru at Starbucks. Get off your duff and walk in! Same goes for the bank too!
- At the airport, don't use the moving walkway. You've gone through security and now you've got plenty of time and you'll soon be sitting for hours.
- Use the stairs. Okay - if it's the Empire State Building, you can reconsider. Maybe do half.
