This recipe comes from a dear friend of mine in the UK and is nothing like the scones you'll find in our American coffee establishments. These are divine. Top with clotted cream and jam and I'm in heaven. Invite your friendd over for a tea party.
English Luxury Clotted Cream from the Devon Cream Company is great served with scones and strawberries. Also try it with apple pie, pancakes, berries, and waffles.
A.K.A "Crack". You've been warned. This recipe is addictive. And it's so simple. Saltines, brown sugar, butter, semi-sweet chocolate chips. That's it!
Make the original, then try some variations - like white cake with raspberry, or chocolate with chocolate wafer bottom and raspberry filling.
This is the 2004 grand prize Pillsbury Bake-Off winner.
Incredible and incredibly easy.
Created by Suzanne Conrad from Findlay, Ohio.
This delicious and versatile cake was adapted from “Chez Panisse Desserts” by Lindsey Remolif Shere. The original calls for more butter. Try serving it with our "Cheater Creme Anglaise".
A perfect pie to serve a crowd. Try it with our Cheater Creme Anglaise, or sprinkle cheddar cheese over the top during the final five minutes of baking. Or both!
I adapted this recipe from Betty Crocker's Apple Slab Pie recipe that serves 24 (great for a party--but not havin' a party) and is baked on a cookie sheet. I used an eleven inch tart pan. The crust comes up the side about an inch and the filling wiill be almost even to that height. After baking, drizzle with glaze. So good. Time for another piece!
Love to juice carrots and but hate to waste the nutricious pulp? This may be the best carrot cake you've ever tasted.
I'm always surprised when I serve this and people exclaim, "This is sooo good. What is this?"
I mean, who doesn't know about Dump Cake? Apparently lots of people. This recipe is the basic version, and still my favorite, but you can go wild and try all sorts of combinations. No matter what, you can't go wrong. Thanks to "That's Some Good Cookin'" for the photo.
My daughter-in-law, Holly, gave me this recipe. With or without the almonds, it's sensational.
I found this recipes while going through some old Bon Appétit magazines. It comes via Tyler Florence with several new tweaks from me! Everyone is crazy about them and keep asking for more, so it's a keeper.
This is a yummy and easy to make cookie from Betty Crocker. I've tweaked the recipe just a bit to make it even easier.
Here's a yummy, fun, and super-simple recipe you can make with the kids.
A friend brought this to my daughter-in-law's baby shower and I was instantly hooked. It includes an almond on top - but just as good without. Now I gotta find someone with a fig tree!
I don't have a picture of it, 'cause everyone started eating it before I could get a picture! It's beyond good and you'll be the star of the next party you bring it to - so print out the recipe and take it with you.
I found the recipe on Tracey Garvis Grave's blog. She wrote On the Island. Great book!
The main ingredient is Roasted Pineapple & Habanero Dip and you can't get it in store, but you can get it on Amazon. Don't let the price put you off--this recipe makes a ton. You can halve it, or freeze the leftovers, or just eat it all after your guests have gone home.
Another yummy sandwich we discovered
on the Oprah Show. We miss that show!
Side or Main Dishes
Lentils and Goat Cheese
I serve this all the time, and everyone raves. Wonderful as a main dish or side dish. And you cannot possibly screw it up.
From Hugo's Restaurants
I saw this on "Best Thing I Ever Ate" on the Food Network. Simple and delicious. A definite "keeper".
Savory, buttery, cheesy, sweet...so good. Take this to your next potluck, with copies of the recipe, 'cause everyone will ask for it.
Elegant, rich and creamy. But don't make it if you're in a rush. And you don't have to make a lattice top. It's pretty, but not necessary.
Easy Veggie Pie (Adapted from Betty Crocker's Impossibly Easy Zucchini Pie)
This super easy recipe is practically no-fail. Great for dinner and delicious the next morning for breakfast. Even good cold. Double it and take to a potluck and you won't bring home any leftovers.
Black Bean Lasagna
Saw this recipe on Trisha Yearwood's cooking show and had to try it. It's delicious, but was a little dry, so I made some adjustments. Great recipe for vegans, but my family eats cheese, so I added a little cheddar and parmesan. Even better the next day.
This is my absolute favorite green bean casserole. My friend, Cindy, gave me this recipe over twenty-five years ago. I was only ten at the time ;-)
I found this recipe several years ago at allrecipes.com, and after one taste, I threw out all my other Thanksgiving sweet potato recipes. Everyone always asks for the recipe.
I saw this simple recipe on the Food Network and had to try them. I thought the mustard flavor might be too intense, but no...delicious. A hit!
